Greetings Marcury!
  5:41pm listener james from westwood:

a quick run to the store and I'll join the festivities and congrats, but want to raise a glass of the happy couple's favorite bubbly in salute!
  5:41pm marcury:

the playlist isn't updating, is that you or an issue?
  5:42pm marcury:

Has it really been 17 years?
  5:43pm Matt from Springfield:

Ahh, another benefit of GTDS--playlists are open early!
Hi Doug! Parq! marcury!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Doug Schulkind:

Thanks LJ from W!

Truly has, Marc.

Greetings Matt!
  5:44pm Matt from Springfield:

Oops, and hi LJfW!
Anniversary night for you Doug?
  5:45pm Matt from Springfield:

Playlist = fine
  5:45pm marcury:

wow!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Doug Schulkind:

That's what the piece of paper says, Matt. And you can't contradict the piece of paper.
  5:50pm marcury:

very strange, the comments update, but the playlist is stuck at cold sweat
  5:50pm glenn:

the big leap? got a safety net? fall arrest training? cushy pillows?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Doug Schulkind:

Marc, that's because the show hasn't started yet. Fun begins at 6pm (ET).
  5:52pm marcury:

OH, DUH!
  5:52pm Holly in NC:

Congratulations, Doug!!!!!!
May I ask what music you will privately play for your wife later this evening? And what's for dinner?
  5:52pm Matt from Springfield:

It costs $thousands in attorneys to change a piece of paper. Or rather one of the following:
a) Lawyers b) Guns or c) Money

Happy though that you two are happy! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Doug Schulkind:

After the show, we had to Tram's homestyle Vietnamese joint on Penn Avenue. The best Vietnamese food since the place downstairs on Doyers Street in Lower Manhattan. (OK, now I'm gonna cry.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Doug Schulkind:

And Hi Holly!
  5:58pm Matt from Springfield:

Mmmm, pho? Bao minh? Spring/summer rolls? The works!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Doug Schulkind:

Pho, which, apparently, is appropriately pronounced "fuh."
  6:00pm Matt from Springfield:

The Vietnamese are then, the "Kings of Fuh"!
  6:02pm Holly in NC:

Damn Matt you stole my joke! :-) I used to play that 7" incessantly.
  6:02pm doug:

  6:04pm monica:

  6:04pm Matt from Springfield:

That 7" is prob worth some coin, if you still have it!
  6:04pm Hugo:

  6:04pm marcury:

Hey look , the play list is working!
  6:05pm ndbob:

Afternoon Doug and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Doug Schulkind:

I know EXACTLY what you mean, Hugo.
  6:05pm Carmichael:

  6:06pm Carmichael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm Doug Schulkind:

  6:09pm Hugo:

  6:09pm Matt from Springfield:

Now I'm intrigued!
  6:09pm monica:

  6:10pm Matt from Springfield:

"I only took a few hours to say goodnight to Irene..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm Doug Schulkind:

Matt, I snagged the Texas Tophands record off the Hillbilly-Researcher site. Note sure if the link is still good.
  6:16pm Holly in NC:

@Matt - The 7" is incredibly beat - scratched & warped. And I never sell records that I like.

Now I want pho. mmmm. Will have to settle for liverwurst or pulled pork.

Irene lives at: http://hillbilly-researcher.blogspot.com/2011/05/everstate-131.html
  6:17pm charlie:

Mazel tov on seventeen, Mr & Mrs Drummersome! (Next year I can chai-five ya.)

  6:19pm Holly in NC:

  6:20pm Andy S.:

Born 1937, Bill Anderson has had a notably long and successful career in country music decades after his last Top Ten hit as a performer (in 1978). To cite one example: "Give it Away", co-written by Anderson and performed by George Strait, won "Song of the Year" from the Academy of Country Music in 2006; and was named the Country Music Association's "Song of the Year" in November 2007. Anderson wrote or co-wrote other major hits for Connie Smith, Kenny Chesney, and the duo of Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss. Ray Price's version of Bill's "City Lights" is a long-time personal favorite.
  6:23pm Matt from Springfield:

Loved that Savannah Churchill one! I think Paul McC said in an interview long ago that he used to love that one.

You friggin rock, Holly!
  6:23pm ndbob:

wow Doug, didn't know that about Savannah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Doug Schulkind:

Hi ndbob. Yeah, a really tragic story. Churchill lived but was a physical wreck the rest of her life.
  6:27pm Christopher I:

lovin these theme sets!
  6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

A close cousin to "I Am A Man Of Constant Sorrow"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Doug Schulkind:

I usually can't stand any theme longer than an hour. If I hold my interest, I suppose it'll hold yours. Thank god I have Friday mornings.
  6:31pm Matt from Springfield:

No Wiki for Emry Arthur, but look what came up, under Man of Constant Sorrow:
"An early version was recorded by Emry Arthur in 1928 (Vocalion Vo 5208)."
  6:32pm listener james from westwood:

ah, back in the saddle. delayed by a call from a man who owed me money. the check is in the mail, the fun 91 is on the stream, and all's right w the world.
  6:33pm Carmichael:

Ugh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Doug Schulkind:

  6:43pm jessie:

Okay I have to keep working on my article now, because if I don't get this one out and published, I won't get tenure and then where we, the happy couple (and child) be? In Pittsburgh, that's where -- whatever our state of mind.
