Totally not thrilled with George Allen (Jr), and think they were better Redskins coaches than George Allen (Sr), but the Coach Allen was very loyal to his players, so no offense taken to Deacon stumping for his son.

You have it exactly right about Allen/Jones. George Allen Sr was fiercely to his players. He always called Jones the greatest defensive end in NFL history. I believe Allen introduced Jones for his Hall of Fame induction speech. Jones was obviously be loyal to Allen, Jr.

Jones' singing career reminded me of a bit of confusion I had when I was about 12: I knew that "Jim" is short for "James," and that actors are sometimes singers, and that Jim Brown the running back was also an actor; a schoolmate had to explain to me that James Brown was not the same person.
