HORACE SILVER! "Pittsburgh, PA" from 1920, I LOVED that very early Jewish novelty record you played...it appears to be a Tuesday night Hannukah special from Dec 20 2011. That was a great one, I'm going to favorite that, actually!

Off to run dogs between thunderstorms, I keep missing brief windows of opportunity. BTW, my phone died & am waffling on replacement options ... any android folks around? I can get a Samsung Galaxy S3 for very little $ - is the S4 really all that?

(I'm assuming this is the Turkic "Turkoman" culture of the Arab world, not to be confused with the Turkey Turks, nor the Turkmens of Turkmenistan or Turkestan...)

In that case it's probably from the "Turkmen" of the north, like Turkmenistan. While there are many acceptable spellings of those cultures in the English language, I was making the point that human geographers tend to stick to one for each, so as not to be confused with the other, numerous Turkic peoples of Asia!

Which, the Kanui & Lula? That recording preceded ol' Man Spottswood, methinks. Might've been from a 78 disc in his collection, though.
