I surprised to hear on the news that Mr. Lewis is actually the last surviving speaker of the March on Washington [for Jobs and Freedom]. Though I guess even he is up in years now.

Nice to hear James Farmer namecheck William L. Moore, the white postal carrier from Baltimore who went on a one-person march through the South carrying a sandwich-board sign reading "Equal rights for all" & "Mississippi or Bust." Moore was shot dead on his solo march just 70 miles in.

Moore was assassinated just a few months before the march, in April.

I just saw Joan this summer at Wolf Trap--she doesn't hit high notes as high as she used to, but she's still GOT IT! Great singer and performer.
