While in Thailand almost 3 years ago I went on a boat through the waters of the Golden Triangle (border between Thailand, Burma and Laos), ONLY the waters of Burma mind you, and DAYS later, Aung San Suu Kyi was released from house arrest and the current transition towards democracy started.
