howdy all near and far! shiny blue friday here in bergen county. fortunately no midday chores to cut into my gtdr time this friday.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:11am Brian in UK:

Hello Doug.
Hello James, what chores?
Now we have not rehearsed this but I am trusting you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Doug Schulkind:

@LJFW
Shiny blue is lovely and poetic.

@Brian in UK
You are neither shiny nor blue. But extremely poetic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12am Alex In Illinois:

Is that a monkey? without a tail, it looks more like a chimp or bonobo to me. Then again, maybe it is a monkey who lost his tail and thinks the dog stole it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:14am Uncle Michael:

I'm not in Cologne. I'm up to my thighs in Eau de Toilette, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Doug Schulkind:

Hi there Alex in Illinois!
Avatar 9:15am glenn:

i'm having coffee. what's yours?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am AndrewC.:

Man, if that was my monkey - I'd give it a very stern talking to.
  9:20am Brian in UK:

Glenn, crackin' answer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Doug Schulkind:

@AndrewC:
"If that was my monkey" is the beginning of an excellent zydeco lyric.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22am Alex In Illinois:

UNcle Mike!
Is that joke about not being in Cologne, but knee deep in "Eau de Toilette" totally original? This is the first time I have heard it. If that is original then that phrase "Eau de Toilette" has been waiting to be in a joke like that for over a century!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 9:23am listener james from westwood:

i knew i recognized those opening "sanford" notes! thanks, weekday-afternoon childhood reruns!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am Uncle Michael:

Totally original, I'm afraid.

Love this Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:23am davex:

Good afternoon, etc. Doug and global drummers...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Alex In Illinois:

@Doug: Sounds like something that Boozoo Chavis would have sung.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am Doug Schulkind:

Props to Rob Weisberg who put this brass band cover on his most recent Marathon premium.

Good afternoon, davex!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Webhamster Henry:

More gamelon! Hi Doug. Looks like the chimp and the dog are giving each other some.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28am Parq:

That reference to Rob W's premium reminds me -- what the hell did I do with my copy of the "Brasslands" soundtrack disc?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am Doug Schulkind:

Hiya Parq! Howdy Webhamster H!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36am Doug Schulkind:

That sad-looking 47% pledgometer is starting to taunt me. Would someone please just pledge $1,055 and make it go away?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am Doug Schulkind:

Hi (in advance) Gary!
  9:37am trish:

Bandeira Branca. It's round. Fine listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am Gary:

Hola!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am Doug Schulkind:

Hey trish! Wasn't that tasty? So happy with that new toy.

Your cologne gave you away, Gary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am Gary:

It's Chile in here
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am davex:

Doug, you can just change the goal, I think. Actually I find the whole pledging to a particular show thing silly. It all goes to the station...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45am Doug Schulkind:

@davex
I know I can change the goal, but my pride won't let me. Also, you are 100% correct that it is silly. One the one hand, the individual goals are tangible incentives that help everyone feel motivated. On the other hand, they are an artificial conceit that, for some, is completely unnecessary. WFMU tries not to take the pledge goal thing too terribly seriously.
  9:50am trish:

Putting your money where your ears are, in particular, remains optional.

If you pledge via links on the front page, your pledge defaults to 'Entire station'.

And so it goes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50am davex:

Yeah, I even thought about splitting my pledge among all the shows I listen to, but that would have been even sillier, I think.
  9:51am Pat at work:

I ;ove this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Doug Schulkind:

@davex
There is no wrong way to do it. Some people prefer to pledge to individual shows to say "thanks" to particular DJs. All the donations, no matter to whom they are pledged, go into the same steaming cauldron.

i ;ove you, Pat at work.
Avatar 9:53am beavoux:

The Mexican Byrds?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am Uncle Michael:

It's so silly that I think everyone should pledge in honor of Hinky Dinky Time as a form of protest!

And/or A Beautiful Life?

Er, 'Life is Beautiful' ('La vita è bella')
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Alex In Illinois:

I did not hear anything in Slave March that was as negative as its title. Saxophone in left ear, piano in right, then a trumpet joined the conversation.

Hum Dono was supposed to be reissued years ago. It is insane that it hasn't been.
