The San Francisco art rock band Oxbow released a recording entitled "Pannonica" (unrelated to the Thelonious Monk composition) with reissues of their 1991 album King of the Jews. Monk's Ba-lue Bolivar Ba-lues-Are (aka Bolivar Blues) is named for the hotel where she lived at one point.  0:39:14 Pop-up)

Hey, Tommy was on PJ's "join The Crowd" !!
  9:34am Michael Hurlbert:

Actually 10cc was 3/4 Jewish - Eric Stewart was the only Gentile.

George Van Eps is truly amazing, he's the god of finger style jazz players. Way back when I thought I might study jazz guitar, my teacher started me off with the Van Eps guitar method books, which saved me a lot of time, as they quickly let me know I wasn't going to push through these exercizes (infinite possibilities of motion of notes in a chord...) at that particular time of my life....
9:40am David in ATL from NJ:

Nice! Love this track, Bob.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am doctorjazz:

Ella????? Cool!
  9:51am tino:

is this what all the cool, pricey vinyl people are buying is gonna sound like in 2 years?
  9:51am dennis diken:

Bob, great Gore choices. "California Nights" - one of the best singles of '67 - and a fine Bob Crewe production! "Run Bobby Run" coulda been an A-side. long live Lesley Gore!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am doctorjazz:

Sometimes sounds like that out of the shrink wrap...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54am doctorjazz:

Where did these male voices go?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55am doctorjazz:

Has global warming brought male voices up an octave?
  10:00am Michael Hurlbert:

From "The Worst Book In The World," a biography of 10cc: "What was it like for Kevin, Lol and Graham to grow up as Jewish lads in Manchester?"
  10:09am Charles:

Excellent playlist Bob
  10:20am Moe:

Saw skip spence 70? At Sky River a low rent festival in Washington state... All I remember is him playing the funky chicken... The Festval was just an excuse for an outdoor drug market with dealers tables ringing the Performance area...

Here's the NRBQ, nice track too, fine sets today, Bob, really enjoying it!
  10:22am joechrismorris:

wonder if Skip hated Bob Rubinson then
  10:35am Stuart rose:

Very sad news about Leslie Gore. Quite a way with a lyric she had- I mean, the simple, direct emotion but not overblown.

Man, did I have a crush on her when I saw her on Batman a short forty some years ago.

Rest in Peace.
  10:43am Toddophonic:

I am eternally jealous of Bob Gall who saw Wilbert Harrison perform in Newark.
  10:56am Buffalo Muttz:

Happy birthday Elmo Lewis! Gone but not forgotten.
  10:57am Stuart rose:

Eric Dolphy, the Beach Boys, the Burritos, and long haired- Lenny Bernstein. And all these quality, lesser knowns like Clear Light. Nobody rambles better over the musical map than you, Bob.
I'll be throwing some bucks FMU's way marathon season in your name.
  2:16am Eugene Bentley:

I clicked on the website for Leslie Gore video. I remembered a Batman episode that had a female singer on it but could not remember who or what song and there it is. Mystery solved!
  1:26am JTKMDNY:

I have the Clear Light Album with this track and saw them many times at the Electric Circus when I was too stoned to realize how really good they were
