Thought you may want to know - NYers correctly call Houston (HEWston) TX and Houston St. (HOWston)

The city in Texas and the street in New York are named for two different guys.

The city is named after the first president of the short-lived Republic of Texas, Sam Houston, while the street is named for William Houstoun, a Georgia delegate to the Continental Congress who married into a Manhattan family that owned land on the street.

"Lilith Velkor" was explained to me by Bob Shea. He'd seen a device said to form "an unbroken circle of Velcro". From that he (or maybe Bob Wilson, I forgot which, but I heard it from Bob Shea) concocted "the unbroken circle of Velkor" for "Illuminatus!", & then back-formed the character name Lilith Velkor.
