Just read this on Bandcamp about Seven Stars: "Legendary 12-string guitarist Suni McGrath's first new recordings in 33 years." So maybe he actually did influence Steve Howe. Look forward to checking out more of his recordings. Never heard him before. Thanks Doug.

If you like "classic" Blood Ulmer, there's a recent release of his trio "Freelancing Live" from a 1981 concert, which is quite good. "Are You Glad to Be in America" has particular resonance right now.

If we are talking about the personal awesomeness of avant jazz guitarists, I can vouch for Mary Halvorson, with whom I have had the privilege of playing (session sadly unreleased).
