What is that tastes like gravy
Boys I bet you don't know
Can you guess what tastes like gravy
It's fine if you really want to know
I tasted last night, the night before
If I keep this appetite
I'm going to taste a little more
So what is it tastes like gravy
Boys I bet you don't know

Now what is that tastes like gravy
I bet you don't know
Can you guess what tastes like gravy
It's tight if you really want to know

Now the gal that let me taste it
They put her in jail
But she didn't need nothing to go her bail
She had stuff tastes like gravy
And I bet you don't know

Can you guess what tastes like gravy
Boys I bet you don't know
Can you guess what tastes like gravy
It's tight if you really want to know

Now if you don't know, I tell you who do
Just see Tampa Red, and his best gal too
They'll tell you what tastes like gravy
If you really don't know

Now I say, guess what tastes like gravy
Boys I bet you don't know
Guess what tastes like gravy
It's tight if you really want to know
If you don't know, I tell you who do
Just see Tampa Red, and his best gal too
And they'll tell you what tastes like gravy
If you really don't know
I mean, if you you really want to know

Seems to me the Giuliani /Romney choice comes down to whether you want the administration to crash and burn, possibly causing major problems, but doing so badly there may be a big turn over in 2 years, or a slightly more sane administration,, which may not set off as many fires, but also may not be a likely to be rejected in 2 years. Whatta choice..

Prayer said. Will repeat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Doug Schulkind:

Thank you, dear people. This would make it one fine Thanksgiving.
Avatar 11:22am Thelonious Funk:

@Doug

My thoughts are with him, hope everything works out.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:23am doctorjazz:

Best of luck on the sale, Doug.
Avatar 11:23am ndbob:

@doctorjazz one of the problems is that a crash and burn might result in a change that makes things worse
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am melinda:

I just saw a fox in the ravine behind my house, but it didn't look like a normal fox. Grey-ish brown without the bushy tail. But it was sort of prancing in a way that was neither cat nor dog, so I looked closer and it had a fox face.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am melinda:

@bob: I agree. There's no guarantee that things getting worse will then result in a swift turnaround.
  11:26am Ramblin' Ray:

Best hopes and prayers to you and your Dad Doug

The crash and burn scenario is definitely scary, but so is the idea that this crew could just take everything apart unnoticed
Avatar 11:28am ndbob:

@melinda I've never seen a fox around here - there was one in my old Baltimore neighborhood that is heavily built up - deer there everywhere
  11:29am Dean:

My daughter refers to a nearby park as Turkey Park, because she and her babysitter would see a local rafter of turkeys loitering on the route from home to the park. Yesterday she and her mom walked to the park. The turkeys were there. You'd think of all days they'd keep on the down low.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:29am doctorjazz:

I don't actually think I could stand to see Giuliani's face for any amount of time... Don't they need someone in casting for a horror movie...?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Doug Schulkind:

Saw wild turkeys by the side of the road during our first fall here in Pittsburgh. But none since then.
Avatar 11:32am Thelonious Funk:

@doctorjazz

His teeth can definitely cast for a horror movie.
Avatar 11:33am annie:

well, to be truthful on the constant barrage of the visages of our fearless leaders(?), i am repulsed by the sight of any of them. self-serving maniacs.. there, i've said it.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:33am doctorjazz:

Lots of wild turkeys on parts of Staten Island. Fox sightings often near my house in Westfield NJ, and deer in people's yards all the time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am melinda:

@Bob: this is only the second time I've seen a fox in town here, in 13 years. Not as dramatic as sighting the orange fluffy kind, but cool anyway.
  11:35am Jeff g.:

My cardiologist recommended I not listen yet here I am. Hi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35am melinda:

At first it looked like a small pig.
Avatar 11:35am annie:

we have bear still wandering around the city here, still quite warm so they are going for the dumpster "gusto". we have a mama with 2 yearlings she leads through the neighborhoods.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:36am Brian in UK:

Just got the pidgeon out from the chimbley. Looks like a homing one. None the worse for the ordeal eating corn and water. Phew. Just got to keep the cats away.
Avatar 11:36am annie:

...and we are all speculating where the displaced wildlife is going, running from the fires here.. devastating, yet... rejuvenating
  11:38am Dean:

I can think of some wildlife I wouldn't mind displacing. If you know what I mean.
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 11:38am Brian in UK:

Off to the vets, enjoy the weekend.

Thanks Doug.

Thanksgiving Songs really tend to focus on the potatoes.

Bag of Potatoes
Diggin' My Potatoes
Smoked Potatoes
Creamy Mashed Potatoe's
Gravy(For My Mashed Potatoes)
(Do the) Mashed Potatoes

Somebody ought to make a compilation on potatoes in music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39am Doug Schulkind:

Good luck and be well, Brian in UK!
  11:39am Dean:

Don't forget Devo's song about Spudboy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Doug Schulkind:

I should spin a track from Lyle "Spud" Murphy.
  11:42am Dan Quayle:

I'll write the liner notes for that potatos comp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Doug Schulkind:

A mind is a terrible thing to taste, Dan Quayle.
  11:43am Dean:

Add two classical vocalists, tenors Martin and Wolfram Lattke, to the comp.
  11:44am Dean:

Bet you can't waste just one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am Doug Schulkind:

That made my spine pringle.
Avatar 11:45am Thelonious Funk:

@Dean it's humiliating that I haven't had the chance to listen to Devo. Recently dabbling with world music these days, kinda getting tired of those familiar western scales.

@Dan: add Taters gonna tate :D

bud the spud.

It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
The Spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig
And they're from Prince Edward Island they're from Prince Edward Island

Now from Charlottetown or from Summerside
They load him down for the big long ride
He jumps in the cab and he's off with the pride Sebagos
He's gotta catch the boat to make Tormentine & he heads up that old New Brunswick line
Through Montreal he comes just a flyin with another big load a potatoes.

It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
The Spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig
And they're from Prince Edward Island they're from Prince Edward Island

Now the Ontario Provincial Police don't think mucha Bud...
Yeah the cops a been lookin for the son of a gun
That's been rippin the tar off the 401-
They know the name on the truck shines up in the sun-"Green Gables."
But he hits Toronto and it's 7 O'Clock when he backs er up agin the terminal dock.
And the boys gather round just to hear him talk
About another big load a potatoes!

It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
The Spuds are big on the back of Bud's rig
And they're from Prince Edward Island they're from Prince Edward Island

Now I know a lot of people from east to west
That like the spuds from the island best.
Cause they'll stand up to the hardest test-right on the table.
So when ya see that big truck rollin by- wave yer hand or kinda wink yer eye,
Cause that's Bud the Spud from old pei, with another big load a potatoes!

It's bud the spud from the bright red mud
Rollin' down the Highway smiling-
Slow-because he's got another big load,
Of the best dog gone potatoes that's ever been growed
And they're from Prince Edward Island They're from Prince Edward Island

stompin' tom connors
