Dear Ken,
Please play Dirty Beaches. Is that the right thematic choice for your show? Or should it be much rowdier? If not Dirty Beaches then something from the new Can singles release.
Dreigroschenoper, „Das Lied von der unzulänglichkeit des menschlichen Strebens“, a.k.a. "Song of the Futility of All Human Endeavour", a.k.a. "Song of Uselessness". Jim Dale did a good version of it in a 2006[?] revival, but I've never heard a bad one….
Good morning everyone! Ken, you could play something of Perrosky. Maybe "en la carretera" from the album "cielo perro"... anything really.. they play different styles.. You can find them on bandcamp.
BTW renewed my SFL; plan on donating later in the month to get my heart back on my profile/see how much I can give as finances develop/devolve accordingly... :D

Mark Williams:
White Belly Rat by Lee Perry! Good one, that, but not sure it's compiled anywhere. Oh Lemmy...
Love this set so far. Me too RE Zappa or perhaps some Pink Floyd? Gotta get motivated to actually put on clothes and makeup. And then actually leave the house. And perhaps go to work.
Coming up in this song: Graham Nash tries to get the crowd of stoners to clap along as Neil Young descends into madness, screaming NO NO NO NOOOoooo over and over again.
I canceled NYT a couple years ago after one of their editors wrote this and they actually published it:
"I often hear from readers that they would prefer a straight, neutral treatment — just the facts. But The Times has moved away from that, reflecting editors’ reasonable belief that the basics can be found in many news outlets, every minute of the day. They want to provide `value-added' coverage." - www.nytimes.com...
I heard the Joy Division cover, and just realized it was Glomag, I know that lad! Once I accumulate some paychecks, I know which dj premiums I want to get.

I cancelled my New York Times subscription due to the fact a copy of the Sunday issue fell on my family and killed them.
"Once a boy goes the bad road, the good road is hard to follow. When the good road is hard to follow, the bad road opens when the good road closes" - Father Flotski
In college I was playing "Guns" by negativland (not too loud) and the neighbors came knocking at the door asking, "what's going on in there, world war three??" I said, "kind of!"
That other Carlin guy said "It's called The American Dream because you have to be asleep to believe it." Play that one for the peeps -- it's forever relevant!
"the bad decision of the electorate" that's nonsense. Its the failure of the technocrats and the elite to offer a program that speaks to people. The fact that we were left with a nincompoop and a war criminal to choose from is an indictment of the system. Not the electorate. f this guy.
You know, this whole spoken "segment", is someone taking his words from multiple podcasts and editing them to what you hear. This is not his words in context.

FưFư (:
Thanks, Okasa and pantz. Is he left or right winged?
Guess what Jake? I wasn't playing Dan Carlin's fucking podcast. He didnt mention his fucking podcast. I was playing a piece of audio art by Dan Warren and you're welcome. You are pissing people off at an increasingly rapid rate so take some time and deep breaths and go outside.
@Jake: uhmmm, his history podcasts are 4+ hours per episode. I break them up, or wait until I have a road trip.

that just reminded me of mesopotamia by the b-52s with the "6 or 8 thousand years they laid down the law" in mesopotamia. except the b-52s' song is true
4 hours is quite long. Is it just him talking or does he have guests? I like the 2-3 hour conversation podcasts because it's the next best thing to having a long conversation in real life.
It's just him. I like to listen to it before bed and drift off as I imagine the battles and intrigue in my mind.

Brendan:
Morning Ken. Was that a scientology song? Ha ha.. if you want another Svengali song, Porcupine Tree’s ‘Last Chance to Evacuate Planet Earth (Before It Is Recycled)’ samples the Heaven’s Gate cult guy on the outro
Ken! I can't believe we missed the Chipmunk's cover version of the Suicidal Tendencies when you did the 3-hour long Institutionalized show early this year. I thought we ran out of covers. Then again, we are talking about magical Ken here, aren't we?
@jakegould - thanks for BUSTER info. fyi - his 7(?)dvd collection will be on sale at a thrift shop this w'end (unless it's sold already, at reg price). i just might get it.
@fufu Thanks for reminding me about the "Institutionalized" show from earlier this year. I had either forgot, or actively blocked it from my memory. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, it was pretty awesome. Thanks, Ken!
That Tricky Gif would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad.
Reminds me of Sparks' "Let The Monkey Drive!"

I saw a squirrel on a skateboard this morning on my way to work. He or she was just posing.

Candlelight Vigil tonight outside an Arms Dealer's shop at 815 Route 32 in Tillson, NY from 6:30-7:30, if you feel like promoting it. Today posted a sign reading "Going outta business sale... ha ha ha just kidding".

I read the link as 'Ask Anarchivist' (i.e. an archivist that doesn't follows archive rules)
@berbo: “I saw a squirrel on a skateboard this morning on my way to work.” A little voice inside your head said: “Don’t look back, you can never look back.”
just remember to always think twice (don't think twice)

its my favorite bob dylan song too. sounds great electric and acoustic. they said queer instead of clear it was a bit annoying. every bit of poetry falls perfectly in place
@Cliff - I was going to suggest that the GIF display page might say "Display 1 GIFs - 10" and then you'd click a button to get "Display GIFs 11 - 20" and so on. What's the procedure to submit ideas such as that?

Keith from Oregon:
Ken, I'm a swag for life contributor, and I wanted to increase my monthly contribution, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. Could you tell us how to make that happen?
@Keith - W're emailing you about that but in the meantime you can email Joe McGasko and let him know how much to increase your monthly donation by and thank you! Joe is at jmcgasko at wfmu dot org
