I always think of Burroughs as being one of the weirdest counterculture figures because he dressed like a square. Leary or Ginsberg or whatever looked like they were slightly dangerous but bill was a bit like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

I only remember ever getting a teacher to run a film backwards once the whole time I was in school. I remember the pandemonium. Kids just went apeshit laughing, falling out of their chairs, watching this otherwise dull film going backwards.
It was as if someone in power at our school said "Nope. They enjoyed it too much. From now on, playing films backwards is forbidden. Tell them it will ruin the film, the projector, whatever."
