That Lee Michaels song reminded me that the major record companies even sent promo men to stock the PXs in Vietnam during the war. I met two of them during my tour of duty. I was stationed out in the boonies, but had to go to my unit's headquarters at this huge base in Long Binh, near Saigon, to get paid every month. I would always visit what had to be the world's largest military Post Exchange. This is where I ran into these employees of A&M and Capitol Records. The first was pushing the Lee Michaels album "Barrel" featuring his often-played hit on Armed Forces Vietnam radio, "Do Ya Know What I Mean?" The Capitol(Harvest) guy was setting up a display in the record department of inflated balloons designed to resemble cow udders. The cover of Pink Floyd's most recent album, "Atom Heart Mother, " featured several lovely cows. Wish I had taken a picture of this extravaganza.
