ami ad, we'll ferry to Manhattan, but the ferry company that runs the JC route is totally useless. Without a smartphone, there's no way to buy a ticket -- well, U.S. mail, but that takes five days, and the tix are good for only thirty days. So we'll risk the four-minute PATH train after walking there from the ferry landing.

HyperDose, I have a mask our friend, a nurse, gave me, the kind you can insert filters into and that has a wire form to the nose. Then I usually put a cloth mask over that. I don't know from numbers or 95s, really. I think Kate's folx gave us N95 masks early on and we kind of never used them, thinking that we could at some point give them to people who really needed them -- but hospitals wouldn't take 'em!

Sorry -- was typing fast!
We have mostly gotten around by ferry when we've had to to into Manhattan. Lots of long walks up First Ave. after taking the ferry in. It's ... not ideal, but we have the freedom and ability to manage it and do it pretty rarely. We have not had to commute for work and not had to use the subway, which, I get it, is a privilege at this point.

Well, it's a four-minute PATH ride, so here's hoping.
slugluv1313:
yes the PATH trains are quite clean these days! and thankfully, most people are decent about wearing masks, social distancing (not so much when i have had to take the Light Rail, sometimes it is easier and nicer to just WALK!)
i have some AMAZING masks from Yetunde Rodriguez, she and her beautiful family are based in Ohio now (and one of the FIRST things i want to do once i have stable/steady work is buy her artwork, her creations are truly stunning!!!)
yaytoonday.com...
i have some awesome masks from EcoDaydream/Daydream Farm Sanctuary (based in North Carolina, iirc) -- although it looks like they are not making the masks right now??? here is the link anyway, in case you want to ask :)

I thought the station did, but I don't see them, there are bandanas wfmu.store...

Hey everybody, whenever you order anything from the Evil Empire, do NOT forget to do it via "smile.amazon.com" and choose Auricle Communications. Then a small donation goes to WFMU at no extra cost to you!
So the link would be: smile.amazon.com...
Handy Haversack:
The station had a few, handmade by listener Knormalish! Must all be gone now.

@bukowski I hope you bought two. It's the end times, stock up. :)

@Hyper They are! There's TV called The Chi that had a character that said cats don't carry their weight like dogs that still makes me mad!

This sounds rad, I'm all in.

i do not recall exactly when that passageway was shut down, but started using it when i would travel into NYC from where i was going to college, and often once i had moved to Hoboken :)
(i grew up in "the sticks" a/k/a central rural/suburban NJ -- when i graduated college in '81, i moved to Hoboken b/c it was the least expensive place to live -- the "ex" had been born there, also 1959, but his parents had moved out in '69 -- so it was quite strange for him to be moving back!)

If not me, someone else from Wake & Bake please give listener Fredericks the link to this show. He was asking about the long-format live programming earlier.
Thank you Creamo. Stay safe, warm, and squish them toe beans, y'all. Edison, out!
