The movie theaters now show movies digitally which is why you can now see movies during the morning hours. It's the best time to go because only a few people show up!

When I was a teen in Providence in the 70s a theatre had 99 cent movies every weekend. It was so great. Everything from the Marx Brothers to A Clockwork Orange, which I really shouldn't have seen at age 14.

@Steely Chris, it was the Palace, which is now the Providence Performing Arts Center. As the Palace it had movies and concerts. Now they mostly have Broadway shows but I saw the White Stripes there a while ago. Jack White played the Wurlitzer organ.

@Woo PPAC is great! I saw Ted Leo And The Pharmacists open for Death Cab some years back - the sound was so good! The Palace had some huge shows in the ‘70s - Genesis’ “Lamb Lies Down” tour rolled through during a snow storm. I think the Boss and possibly Lou Reed played there, too.
