July 12, 2021: FDL344 "Telephone Wires Are Singing!"

The conclusion of our Telephone Trilogy consists of Finnish music only and revolves round the classic "Puhelinlangat Laulaa" (The Telephone Wires Are Singing), which was composed and recorded by Pentti Viherluoto in 1947. The lyrics were by his brother Aimo Viherluoto. In 1964 it became a number one hit in the version of Karli Helena, after which it was covered and parodied numerous times. The title even became the name of a radio show, which is still running. In 2012 rapper Cheek (Jare Henrik Tiihonen) had another number one hit with his rendition.
