I just was at the Cannes Film Festival and saw Asghar Farhadi's new film A HERO, which deals with the self-interested moral superiority of contemporary Iranian society. A very good film (I love all of his movies) and, alongside the recent Iranian film THERE IS NO EVIL (which I was proud to show at my film festival this past fall), shows that dissent can still have a place in Iranian art and culture. Would love to hear more about your point of view, @DJsheilab, maybe not when you're DJing! ha

	4:07pm Jeff Moore: @βrian: strict alternation while merging works great when people know how to do it properly and all cooperate! It works best when there's a clear, formally-designated merge area – like at the Holland Tunnel on the way from Jersey to Manhattan. There's too much traffic there, but when the traffic is all seasoned local drivers the merge usually happens impressively smoothly. The cool thing about a strictly alternating merge is that if all the drivers actually know what their role is and do the right thing, the merge can happen at speed! Sadly, that kind of competence and cooperation isn't common.
	4:08pm Carmichael: I drive fast (faster than the posted speed) but not crazy. I believe in gettin' there, but also gettin' there in one piece.
	4:09pm Amy: Love your show- love to drive fast with FMU blasting. But I NEVER let those jerks in! Usually men, no eye contact, entitled pricks. I’ll even move right, into the merging lane or shoulder to not let them by! I’m going somewhere too; be courteous and wait your turn. (I might let you in if you ask, though.) You’d love driving in Italy. Same sensibility, lots of crashes. For the record, if someone needs to change lanes I never deny them.

	4:11pm djsheilab: Another I notice on the city roads is that traffic cops make the traffic SO much worse. There's a natural flow even in the worst traffic jams, but traffic cops disrupt that flow and create even more havoc.

	4:15pm Handy Haversack: The Taconic has lanes about 6' wide with an iron rail for a median and stone walls for a shoulder. A state cop pulled me over for "touching the lane line." Most drivers on that road straddle the lane divider and go 20 over the limit. I got pulled over for driving a shitty car from the city. Power-tripping son of a demon.

I just was at the Cannes Film Festival and saw Asghar Farhadi's new film A HERO, which deals with the self-interested moral superiority of contemporary Iranian society. A very good film (I love all of his movies) and, alongside the recent Iranian film THERE IS NO EVIL (which I was proud to show at my film festival this past fall), shows that dissent can still have a place in Iranian art and culture. It works best when there's a clear, formally-designated merge area – like at the Holland Tunnel on the way from Jersey to Manhattan. There's too much traffic there, but when the traffic is all seasoned local drivers the merge usually happens impressively smoothly. The cool thing about a strictly alternating merge is that if all the drivers actually know what their role is and do the right thing, the merge can happen at speed! Sadly, that kind of competence and cooperation isn't common.
	4:08pm Carmichael: I drive fast (faster than the posted speed) but not crazy. I believe in gettin' there, but also gettin' there in one piece.

I tried and mostly failed to find an online source for that song's very awesome music video a few months ago. If you can find it, I highly recommend it!
