I'd say the chances of anyone guessing today's mystery LP-under-the-cassettes are next to nil, because the record is quite obscure and because not much of the cover is showing .... so, I'll just give the game away. It's the Solid British Hat Band's "Goodbye Rainbow" LP: www.discogs.com...

Had no idea what delta sleep was, so I just looked it up. Here's what google sez: "Delta sleep is also known as slow wave sleep (SWS) or deep sleep. It comprises both sleep stages 3 and 4. These are characterized by slow, high-amplitude waves with a frequency of less than 2 Hz and an amplitude of at least 75 mV."
Avatar 12:21pm
Tony Coulter:

As for peptide: "a compound consisting of two or more amino acids linked in a chain, the carboxyl group of each acid being joined to the amino group of the next by a bond of the type -OC-NH-."

When I say some tracks sound incomplete, I don't mean I don't like them the way they are: I do. It's just that some sound like they could be demos or sketches of songs -- but I like the bareness and simplicity, so perhaps it's all "finished."
Avatar 1:37pm
Tony Coulter:

Or maybe I like incomplete songs....

Sounds a little like The Cure here. I think they sound like finished demos. A demo this good stands on its own.

This reminds me of a time in the early 90s where I ran my TV through a digital delay system and would leave loops of stuff from television shows on for hours. It seemed like the loops would slowly change over time due to the extreme repetition over long periods of time.

Absolutely no search results for "Dissonances Through the Forest Train" or "Dissonances Through the Forest Rain". Illusionist is so general that there are too many results. I do see that you played a track in March that you said is from "Dissonances Through the Forestt Rain". Assuming a typo.
Avatar 2:13pm
Tony Coulter:

Not really a typo: The title is handwritten and a bit hard to make out, so it *could* be "Dissonances Through the Forestt Rain" ... assuming Mr. Illusionist doesn't know how to spell forest. I kind of went with that possibility earlier, because of the spacing on one of the tapes labels, but have now switched to "train." (Yes, I'm Mr. Inconsistent.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
solo mon:

I heard Delta Airlines wants to rename the variant Spirit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
Little Danny:

Tony, do you get a sense of where this cat was coming from? In terms of his musical influences?
Avatar 2:25pm
Tony Coulter:

You know, for me, the influences are hard to pinpoint. Everyone I've played this too hears something different. For example, FMU's Bryce thought of R. Stevie Moore. I don't hear any particular strong influence, but I will say I doubt he's an isolated "outsider." I think he was definitely listening to various '80s new wave/post-punk/industrial/etc. artists.
Avatar 2:30pm
Tony Coulter:

Plus, the collection it was part of was almost entirely '80s/early '90s post-punk and experimental stuff. The person I got it from doesn't have a clue who Illusionist is, though.
Avatar 2:34pm
Tony Coulter:

One thing I do know: These Illusionist tapes were originally sent to Daniel Plunkett's ND magazine (I got them from D.P., indirectly).
