Sylvia, I have done some bartending among my years of service work, but I was mostly a waiter. No, *most* of my cocktail knowledge dates from the pandemic. It's amazing how fast you can learn when properly motivated by global trauma and misery.

I spent three weeks wrestling with this super ultra you will die of a Russian virus Windows update before I realized that the problem was that I had managed to uninstall Edge and the update required that *it* be updated as well. So I had to let it be reinstalled and then go through the whole REG EDIT process of blocking Edge all over again. Thanks, Microsoft.

Excellent. I also have asked Angel Olsen to come and sing Amazing Grace but haven't heard back on that yet.

Oh my gosh, Handy, Kate is on that album??????????? GO fetch her, immediately.

@Phillippe: You should point out that part of the point is that you'd be dead so no longer stalking her

I missed a surprise performance by Björk a couple of years back at a festival in my hometown. I was told when i arrived at the venue minutes after she had finished.. Grrr

Phillippe, I can come and sing When I’m Cleaning Windows if you like..?

she has a great jazz voice! And Handy, you have great, um jazz hands!
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 2:10pm

Well, Mary, you have shocked us to our cores.

The title song on this album is about making out with me, in case anyone wants nightmares!

@Handy: is K8 listening?
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
Handy Haversack:

She's in a meeting with her people's theater collaborator, but I have turned up the volume so that they are both listening!

That's gotta be great hearing your own voice on the radio

This album needs to be on Bandcamp, she whispered...

So impressive. It wouldn't ever even occur to me where to start to cover Björk. This is for someone in another universe high above me...
Avatar 2:14pm
Mary Wing:

You could be the first male voice to cover it, RevRab!!
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Handy Haversack:

We recently found a box of the CDs. I guess we could rip files dense enough for Bandcamp from those.

We can also send a CD to anyone who wants, for reals.

I absolutely hate hearing my voice, Phillippe, but maybe it's different for singers, heh.
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 2:16pm

I was about to say, it's great if you have *K8's* voice. It's much less great if you have, say, mine.

each time I hear my voice on the radio I feel like I've just won a Grammy :p

I get Fiona to do the singing so I don’t have to go through it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm

@Handy: I think you can basically copy the CD tracks to aiff (or maybe wav), upload that and let bandcamp do the rest. CD format is basically 44100Hz, 16bit signed integer

...as a Guitar Player - & a lifelong antisocial Introvert - I'm surprised how much I like listening to my Gittar ...& how little I like seeing myself...
Voice I haven't even broached yet ...but I don't think it sounds the same as I think it does inside my own head here... Also - for me Voice is a Use It or Lose It Muscle that I tend to neglect. Aretha had none of these problems one second of her life, I'm fairly certain ...there are *those* people...

I'm just thrilled when the words I type appear on screen, can't even imagine hearing your own singing. But I agree with you, Mary and Handy -- I used to send scratch audio with scripts for a few industrials I wrote, and it was... weird... listening to myself.

Interesting how much Björk's stands out for emotive communication - on after all her own tune. How she combines that affectively forthright quality with these offbeat baroque stylings. But every version shows something different about the tune & the Artists. So that's success.

I can see how it would be challenging for a guy to do a Björk cover. Maybe Thom Yorke could pull it off in a weird way on some songs (not this one, but hyperballad?)

Remembering reading Thom talking about singing with Björk on something (?) - & saying he started to get emotional on it - & Björk told him that was letting the listeners down & not fair to them - & he thot - you know she's right !...
