Never saw Ravi Shankar in person. Just not right time right place. I got several of the 60s World Pacific releases in 1967ish after I read the Harrison name drop. The records were being sold cheap by the KMart or wherever...
LadyC you did sound fully awake on that mic break, trying to decide if I am going do my usual Sunday mediation / nap. Ritual Music will be my guide.

honey pie? wild honey pie?? kansas city heyhey?? a non-rocker acting the part. another girl? rubbish surpassed only by don't pass me by. . . but that's musically and even musically he also did some extraordinary things.

when i was little i had the 4 photos from the white album on my wall. then i took down Paul's and Ringo's and left John & George up. for years.
... but as i continue to learn about Paul i raise him higher and higher in my regard.
easily higher than John, who i adore, but i know he was a dick.
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
Yeah you could take anybody with that much output & cherry-pick the lows. & yet - the lows are there.
...We sought to correct the notion that Paul was Music & John was Words. & then - it is observed that Paul was Melodically gifted - & John tended to compose within a few notes & always remarked on the quaiity & meaning of the Writing when you asked him...

they were both extremely gifted.
Paul was coming from the point of view of Little Richard and Elvis. he was a showman. so was Hendrix.
that used to bother me but, whatever. he knew how to put it together to create something people can relate to.
yeah sad he got so bad after the beatles... but then his last album is actually pretty good.

in competing with John and George in the early days, he tried to get wild -when he simply wasn't.
some of his later attempts at creating something "out there" were pathetically misguided too, like wild honey pie. helter skelter was decent though, even if contrived.

So Harvard Psych king Leary went in for that. Leary became kind of a white shoed lecture circuit kinda guy... Maybe he was sincere & it benefited him & I'ma jerk too...

Paul could scream but it always sounds like it's from his head, not his gut.
- incredibly gifted musically though, regardless of his contrived songs. his arrangements and musicianship often saved John's songs from oblivion.

"Afro-Caribbean voodoo polyrhythms meet bass-weight dub electronics on Vodou Alé, the debut full-length collaboration between Haitian six-piece Chouk Bwa and Belgian production duo, The Ångströmers. The traditional and contemporary collide on this nine-track merger of distinct Haitian mizik rasin (roots music) and rumbling electronic production, forging a thrilling and hypnotic dialogue between minimalist sound design and Afro-Haitian drum talk."

Consider that Cope did that book as a follow up to the one on krautrock. When I was young I was taught that kraut was offensive and to not use it around my friend whose mother was German.

My own JAP story: (writing this makes me wonder if I've been around Franco too much) when I started dating a Japanese person and not long after moved to NYC, I was startled to notice that many personal adverts in the NYC weeklies had women listed as JAP. Took me more than a minute to realize they were not from Japan.
