	7:54pm Gerry from Miami: This rather jazzy sounding tune by Dutch group Focus was from their first official album. But then they took the pop/rock world by storm over the next few years back in the 70s. They became a huge concert draw and struck chart gold with their rip-roaring smash, "Hocus Pocus."

I know Focus have a lot of fans for their later work, but I really love "In and Out of Focus" the best, being more of a mellow / jazz cat.
	8:05pm Gerry from Miami: Love Ken Nordine! I can remember a series of TV commercials he did about 45-50 years ago with voiceovers accompanying animated shorts. The product they were trying to sell was Levi's Jeans. Pretty effective, I thought.
	8:08pm djnogoodnick: To be quite honest I had never heard of Ken Nordine, but his voice sounded familiar immediately when I first heard the album, which says something about his immortality.
	8:15pm Gerry from Miami: I bought the first couple of records by the jazz/ rock band, If. Down Beat magazine did a feature comparing Blood, Sweat and Tears, Chicago , If, maybe Colosseum as well. They thought all of these "rock" bands with horns and vocals were OK, nothing special, if I recall. I was intrigued, nonetheless, and to this day still pull out records by all of them. Vive le saxophone!

	8:31pm Gerry from Miami: Oh yeah, "The City!" Living in LA during the 70s, the default jazz station in town was KBCA. They wore out the grooves on this one!! I knew when this record was current, I could hear it at least once or twice every day. This one, as well as "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised" by Gil-Scott Heron, the lead piece from the Siegel-Schwall Blues Band on their collaboration album with the San Francisco Symphony and all the early work from saxophonist John Klemmer got plenty of airplay. I thank this station for leading me to the trailhead of that long road toward jazz "Nirvana."

I had the good fortune back in the 70s to befriend and go to concerts and events with one Mr. James Newton, 23-time winner of "Best Flute" in the annual Down Beat magazine International Critics' Poll (biggest thrill---James introducing me to Cecil Taylor in his backstage dressing room after a concert at UCLA). Great show tonight. Thanks for playing all this great music! This program will be permanently on my weekly schedule from now on!
