I wanted to do "Afro Blue" (see: Coltrane's Live in Japan, with Pharaoh Sanders), which would (in my opinion) make a weirdly good psychedelic rock song, but the guitarist didn't want to play the Afro Blue melody. He just wanted to make random noise for 20 minutes. Not that there's anything wrong with that. So we made Upper & Lower Egypt into our pseudo-jazz-noise jam.

The office doesn't have non-employee mask rules (but I had one because it's a medical place and the other patients skew old) and they didn't ask "hey, yes or no, do you have obvious Covid symptoms" at the door. Also it's very windy in my part of the midwest so maybe N95 masks help with that too, idk.

	🧩 5:23pm Handy Haversack: tim, the sound was great! They were all business -- I don't think they spoke to the crowd till half an hour in. The venue was weird for the sound -- kind of bougie and calm. We were three feet from the stage, and I don't think another body touched me all night. They served us beer in glass pints! I can't remember the last time someone trusted me with glass at a ticketed rock show. They sounded really good. Covered "Fade Into You" for the encore, which was a baller move, I thought. And another song with a repeated "I'm pregnant!" as the refrain that I'm not sure what it was. The bass player is an absolute monster. I hadn't realized just how much he's laying down till we saw them live.

I wanted to do "Afro Blue" (see: Coltrane's Live in Japan, with Pharaoh Sanders), which would (in my opinion) make a weirdly good psychedelic rock song, but the guitarist didn't want to play the Afro Blue melody. He just wanted to make random noise for 20 minutes. Not that there's anything wrong with that. So we made Upper & Lower Egypt into our pseudo-jazz-noise jam.

The venue was weird for the sound -- kind of bougie and calm. We were three feet from the stage, and I don't think another body touched me all night. They served us beer in glass pints! I can't remember the last time someone trusted me with glass at a ticketed rock show. They sounded really good. Covered "Fade Into You" for the encore, which was a baller move, I thought. And another song with a repeated "I'm pregnant!" as the refrain that I'm not sure what it was. The bass player is an absolute monster. I hadn't realized just how much he's laying down till we saw them live.
