I could go for large ricotta ravioli(not frozen), gently boiled so the
ricotta does not curdle or toughen ...stir fried cremini, spinach, shallots, garlic and fresh basil in a wee butter bath topped with fresh grated Parm reggiano and lots of ground black pepper ..
sadly - am about to eat 2 pieces of toast from the freezer (decent bread though)

I guess only All Stars 6 was on Paramount, and this latest regular season is on the VH1 app (also - Mona from friday nights swears by the World of Wonder app, which lets you watch all the different country versions of drag race but I haven't gotten that)

The shona track sounds a lot like Gumbukumbu by Dumisani Abraham Maraire, Nkosana Arthur Maraire, Sukutai Laura Chiora from.... I think it was an old Ninesuch Explorer/Lomax LP I had. I guess there's only so much overt melodic stuff you'll get from mbira and what sounds like a pretty well-codified musical form.

I need more variety in my African food, I tend to only eat North African and Ethiopian/Eritrean food, and usually that's only when I cook it myself. North Jersey isn't known for culinary adventure. But if you want mediocre Italian food, boy do we have a lot of that up here.

I'll have to ask my friends about the name of the Peruvian place in Paterson (but the whole Peruvian neighborhood only covers about two blocks and maybe 6-8 restaurants) but the Arabic area is huge and amazing. For sure check out Al Basha. They have a take-out location on Main St. Lots of other good places too.

This is a pre-pandemic story... The convenient store down the street from where I used to live is the best and I am instant friends with everyone who has ever worked there. Anyway, this lady behind the counter is eating a mix of things out of a styrofoam container one day and I comment that the food smells good. She's like have you ever had Ethiopian food and I was like I love Ethiopian food. She bring the container over to the counter and let's me eat some of her food. At the counter in the store. I asked her where it was from and she's like, IT IS HOMEMADE, YOU GOOBER.
