Wine-dark sea is a traditional English translation of oînops póntos (οἶνοψ πόντος, IPA: /ôi̯.nops pón.tos/), from oînos (οἶνος, "wine") + óps (ὄψ, "eye; face"). It is an epithet in Homer of uncertain meaning: a literal translation is "wine-face sea" (wine-faced, wine-eyed). It is attested five times in the Iliad and twelve times in the Odyssey,[1] often to describe rough, stormy seas.

I wanted to share (here) my *extreeeeme* inner happiness for finally starting (again, yet again :D) rehearsing/learning some stuff this past week (on a virtual instrument for now, but planning on finding the real deal (piano) along with my old guitar soon, following) plus getting friendly with a DJ mixer (in lieu of a synthesizer, but it's totally okay for now) at an acquaintance's house (who is aspiring to make electronic music)
Finally being able to "touch" music since my theoretical resolutions during the first lockdown feels SO GOOD

@Avril I'm thinking about getting a cheapo 2nd keyboard for just midi stuff that's more portable. Something like this www.adorama.com...

You might want to look up the PODOLSKI plugin if you want to do synth emulation. Garageband isn't bad by any means, but it is somewhat limited. Great to learn on though if you have no idea what you're doing (me)

That was a very Chris Isaak chord progression

Hey so earlier, Carol playing Campion's movie music reminded me of something I have been meaning to mention since a couple of weeks ago ! a new Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke: "The Smile"

@Doug : me even more :D but yes, I am gathering the "what are the names for the things" and "how those things work" info at random anyway, so I can navigate the landscape, when and if I get to, say buy the instrument itself or encounter the occasion where I have to use or know about a particular piece of software

RB: consider this, have you ever heard a slow"i e"minimalist disco music. Because I can't think of one, and I never seen slow disco dancing to a slow disco tune. So if there's no such thing as slow disco dancing, how can there be minimalist disco music if it can't be danced to?
