Charles:

Good stuff right there.
Avatar 7:16pm
djnogoodnick:

Hey Charles!! One of my favorite debuts, Trioritat from Deutschland.
Avatar 7:22pm
djnogoodnick:

I intended to make a celebratory playlist after a successful marathon, but ended up with contemplative..

I'm so glad it went well this year. Can't take this radio goldmine for granted.

Avatar 7:30pm

It's really nice to get out of the way of the music too, after having to talk so much..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm

ZZZ, @ 7:12-I'm a certified audiophile -nerd.
Avatar 7:45pm
djnogoodnick:

How do you get that certification?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46pm
zzz:

hah. ok can i pick your brain via email? i am
hoping to make an upgrade to my system.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm
doctorjazz:

ZZZ, send me a message through the FMU app and I'll see what I know and help if I can.

DJnogoodnick -it's official when Audio Dealers get a big grin when you walk in...

(@zzz-I'm a bit dated though, aging gear...)
Avatar 7:55pm

Aged gear is the best gear, I hear!!

Maybe wine, not sure it's true for speakers...
Avatar 8:03pm
djnogoodnick:

My friend fancies himself a gearhead and sold me a pair of 70s Altec speakers. They do have a nice warm sound although I wish they had more volume.

djnogoodnick:

Hey Hi! How's your Sunday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
doctorjazz:

DJnogoodnick, like in many hobbies, there are sub-groupings. Some audiophiles are into vintage ("they don't make great like they used to"), some are into vinyl, some high resolution downloads, live taper devotees, there are reel to reel advocates, etc etc...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
doctorjazz:

Not too mention a while headphones subculture...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm
zzz:

great! thanks i will do
Avatar 8:13pm
djnogoodnick:

Oh I get it! My vinyl collection unfortunately is a product of buying the cheapest copies of good albums I could get hold of, ranging from reissues to some rough / worn originals. Which is why on this show I just decided to play digital.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm
doctorjazz:

That's how I started buying records too. I'd hit Princeton Record Exchange, get the twofers or cheapest reissue (kicking myself for passing on original Blue Notes when a 2 LP reissue had more music for less money, but made perfect sense for my situation at the time).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm
doctorjazz:

Very cool sets, btw!

Rick and Drew:

Greetings from Sunnyside, Queens!
Avatar 8:20pm
djnogoodnick:

Hey it's the Sunny Buns!!
Avatar 8:21pm
djnogoodnick:

Oddly enough you guys have the same names as a couple of guys I know over in Woodside..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm
zzz:

i hear you. digging in the super cheapie CTIs and ECMs was very formative. passing on those original blue notes is rough i’m sure in hindsight but some of those blue note twofers are great, and include some still otherwise unreleased things no? i remember just grabbing a jackie mclean one, not realizing fully what it was, and first spin was knocked out by grachan moncur’s track ‘hipnosis’
  8:21pm
Rick and Drew:

Huh, what are the chances?
Avatar 8:23pm
djnogoodnick:

@doc TY!! And I did the same, often opting for a cheapie best of comp with a great track I wanted to play out, because I didn't want to pay for the album.
Avatar 8:24pm
djnogoodnick:

@Rick and Drew Have you gone to Dawa's yet?
  8:25pm
Rick and Drew:

Yes! We went there on Thursday. It was great! Thanks for the recommendation.
Avatar 8:26pm
djnogoodnick:

Excellent! I have plenty more and will join you one evening / weekend.
  8:27pm
Rick and Drew:

Sounds good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
doctorjazz:

@zzz, Scott McDowell uses Hipnosis as his opening theme when he does his The Long Rally show (as a fill in these days). Great track!
Avatar 8:40pm
djnogoodnick:

@Rick and Drew: This is Ben Jaffe's group and the guy from Parquet Courts is doing guest vocals.
  8:41pm
Rick and Drew:

Nice! We saw Parquet Courts in Austin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
zzz:

this is a sweet track. only other time unheard badbadnotgood they were playing with ghostface!
Avatar 8:52pm
djnogoodnick:

Ah, you should definitely catch up with them then. I saw them at Brooklyn Steel last week and they were amazing. They also had Laraaji and a couple other guests.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54pm
doctorjazz:

Close to the end, Nick, thanks for the fine tunes!
Later all!
Avatar 8:55pm
djnogoodnick:

Thanks doc! Goodnight everyone. I'm gonna say a few words and then make my curry.
  8:56pm
Rick and Drew:

Good night. Enjoy your curry!
