Gallucci was also the mastermind behind the band Touch. He was too young to tour with the Kingsmen because of his age, but eventually put together a band of his own and scored a minor hit with the Beach Boys lite of “I Could Be So Good to You” in 1967. Not long afterward, with the help of mind-expanding psychedelics, Gallucci and some fellow astral travelers set out to make a musical statement that reflected their consciousness-raising visions. Rehearsing in a castle in the Hollywood Hills, the 19-year-old Gallucci and his bandmates were sincere in proselytizing on behalf of the drug; they truly wanted their music to get people tripping. Gallucci called their work “a spiritual quest put to music.” During the recording sessions, a mythos arose around the project. People like Grace Slick and Jimi Hendrix would drop by to take in the vibes.

Scott from Denver:

@clarke: Never made it much out of state. Poor college student status. In Omaha we had the Ranch Bowl, yes, bowling alley and music venue. Saw the Buzzcocks. First stage dive ducking under the neck of the bass players guitar. Howard Street Tavern downtown had Zoo Bar carry overs. Zoo Bar was usually affiliated with Alligator Records acts.

A long-forgotten (by me anyway) classic from Bob Mould! Listen to that! Why would you NOT put it on repeat and just listen to it for hours?
