Hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Dat wou ik ook net zeggen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Hi Jan. How are you?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:07pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I meant in my intro that I'm not watching the news on TV, I do read some internet papers, however i don't need moving pictures right now...

Hi PK!
Avatar 12:09pm
Mr Fab:

Quack quake, y'all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I just read the trustworthy newspaper's headlines online (I don't have a dead tree newspaper in my house) and that's enough for me. War pictures no thanks. I know about the atrocities, but I do not have to see them to believe them.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I'm alright, not looking forward to tomorrow. They're behind schedule on the renovation, which means I will be without gas from tomorrow 7:30 till 17:00 tomorrow...
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:10pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Mr Fab!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:12pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But that is a luxury problem...
Avatar 12:12pm
Mr Fab:

Hey, tape-heads! i still have a couple shoeboxes of cassettes. Some rare stuff that I feel that I should keep, even if I can't really play them on anything right now. Bit of a musical hoarder, I guess...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm
Wenzo Toad:

Hey Jan!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
WR:

Hello folks, listening, Missed your introduction, so playing recordings you received or made on cassette?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Wenzo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Do we get to see a nice little Vendomatic tape too?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:17pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi WR, no the visual theme has little to do with the content. We'll be visiting some European cities later on in the show.
Avatar 12:19pm
Mr Fab:

vintage 78s, Conrad Schnitzler...exactly what i need to ease my way into the week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm
MHLee:

Hello friends
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm
MHLee:

cassette was not completely antiquated when I was a child though by around 2004, when I made my first mix they were
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:25pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Your wish is my command, PK
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi MHLee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I used to be quite good in creating mixtapes for my (girl)friends. I seem to have lost that ability when bakeable CD's came into my financial reach. It just wasn't the same.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:27pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Making mix tapes for a girl, ah gossie, those where the days :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
MHLee:

I made cds and gave them to friends, with Syd Barrett on them
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I also still have a milieubox (www.schiphorstbv.nl...) full of cassettes I cannot play any more because I don't have a cassette deck any more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@ MHLee: Did your friends all have Syd Barret on them?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Yay! een Vendomatic bandje!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:30pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Dutch word of the day: Milieubox
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

The DJ's in VERA all used their milieubox as a record carrier. Some even had two or three.
(FYI: The Government in the Netherlands gave each household a Milieubox in the early 90's for separating chemical waste products (paint, turpentine, acetone, batteries etc.) from all other types of household waste. It just hardly was used by anyone. And it was perfect to store records in.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

* all the stuff I mentioned was of course still in their own containers.*
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Jan Turkenburg:

ah... that's why mine melted...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm

Bravo, Asylum Street Spankers - quite Spike Jones-esque!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

angry frustrated young men with instruments they want to - but not really can - play
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

But they too need a place to vent their opinions.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

hahahahaha
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

And they've come to the right place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm

we need more "Metal Box" in this world, even fake "Metal Box."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm

AaaaaAaaAaAargh It rains! And I have a Flat tyre! AaaaAargh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Philosophical question: If there is a Greetje Bijma is there also a Greetje Hoofdma somewhere?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Maybe in a parallel Universe..
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:09pm
Jan Turkenburg:

or alternate universe as in Star Trek where everything is the other way round
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Feldy:

Hello Jan!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:19pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hello Feldy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm
Feldy:

These images bring to mind the practice of hunting for available cassette tapes to tape-over
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

My cat just threw up all over my fucking bed. Thanks a lot, sweetie. AaaaaaAargh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm
Feldy:

@PK cat puke is small but no less disgusting!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I have laminate flooring everywhere and they always choose to puke on my bed or on the rug.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I don't mind cleaning their barf from the floor. But this was a fresh bed. And now I also am worried about the cat's health.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, they're very picky where they puke, only on the finest materials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm
Feldy:

I remember dumpster-diving for a box of cassettes (which had motivational speeches on them, very 80's) which I used to capture audio from Star Trek 2
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@ Feldy: Dumpster diving? You accidentally threw them away?
Avatar 1:28pm
Domenic:

@Feldy. that's a great story. Now we can get that alll on CD or even online... I have a Star Trek CD of just sound effects....
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:28pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hello Domenic!
Avatar 1:29pm
Domenic:

Sorry I'm late pal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
Rick from SC:

I thought I heard Frank. Hey all.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:30pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Rick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@ Feldy: Oh now I see, You dumpster dove and found a box of cassettes you later used to record Star Trek on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

My dad used to record the Eurovision song contest on his little rattling cassette recorder. He had a little microphone he taped to the TV's speaker to record. We all had to be silent as a mouse while he recorded. Yay, fun.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I remember that the philips super quality wasn't super at all. The cheaper ferro tapes were better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm
MHLee:

Such a depressing beauty of an album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm
Feldy:

Domenic, I recorded so many things not knowing that one day everything would be available day or night forever!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:38pm
Jan Turkenburg:

and that those motivational speeches would become hard to find...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm
Feldy:

Paper Kos, the thing recorded most is probably people in hushed tones, "I'm recording"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm
Feldy:

This is a Lou Reed song? Didn't know he was ever near a banjo player
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm
Feldy:

Oh I see the playlist updated :)

@Feldy. But still we learned be careful what you throw away. Were only one solar EM burst away from using it again LOL
Avatar 1:43pm
Mr Fab:

er...Jan, you're not planning on playing the BAND Berlin, are you?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:44pm
Jan Turkenburg:

No, it's not in the mix
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

You chipmunkified Anneke van Giersbergen! Tjeempie!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Sometimes I just HAVE too.... it's irresistable...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm
MHLee:

they call this nightcore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I am quite fond of her real singing voice. In English, that is. I unfortunately can't really stand her Dutch accent.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:49pm
Jan Turkenburg:

get over it, PK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I know. But that is how I roll.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:50pm
WR:

<splogedit> ? Perhap remix is more appropriate description, but I don't know the Vuur original so perhaps not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm
MHLee:

en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Vuur is quite good, actually. The former singer of The Gathering.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:54pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Splogman separated the voice, pitched it an octave higher then put it back again. He says it's an edit ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I too call that an edit. A remix would have involved tinkering with the rest of the track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Kom on, Jan, joe doont hef a soft Gee. Joor English eksent is faain.
Avatar 1:59pm
