DIY music for the spirit; bummer jams for happy people; terrestrial music for space travelers; punchy, post-punk jitters, synth drones for the mindful; fuzz-drenched, basement rock to sooth the soul...

Re: DFW, a coworker once asked me about fave books, and I said Infinite Jest first. A few weeks later, he angrily told me he gave up after a few pages, and that a relative of his who was a professor of English literature in Italy said it was "unreadable crap that people pretend they read just to show off"
Also, Juliana Hatfield once said a tourmate had read it and said it made no sense, but he admitted he didn't read the footnotes

There certainly is a lot of pretension around IJ, but it is a legitimately entertaining and funny dystopian novel.

I'm now rereading another set of faves: China Miéville's Bas-Lag novels.

and well liked ... as a person ..
Maybe only finished the short stories ??
Seems like he was well known in some
circles..
ThinkI found his name in a New Yorker article and
got the book from NYPL ??? 2000????
Think there was a photo {not a joke]
Think he had longish stringy blond hair and drove an old truck ??
{not a joke] He was well liked by the townsfolk = old coal mining town ..
HANDY and Yeti combo should come up with the answer without
asking to buy a vowel ...
Must cycle to old center Madrid ... my lovely right side sandal started talking yesterday so need new foot garments.. If not back before 12 EST - was killed in traffic..
Be safe and yet have fun all !!!
