This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

much more of a "conventional" musique concrète sound from Lundsten here than you find in his later records, which tend to be composed for much more specialized & personal synths and thus sound more deeply Lundsten-esque, but a lot of his classic moves are already in full effect here.
Avatar 7:13pm
Flash Strap:

The album's b-side, Kalejdoskop, which I played during the Explorers Room Lundsten special (wfmu.org...) is one of my favorite of his pieces, in fact. a great early release from the maestro

@Anon: I had a similar experience with this actually, I was listening to it for the "first time" and felt like I'd heard it 100 times and had in fact had a phase of listening to it a lot – turns out, I did! It was also released as a library record, for the April Orchestra series. I hadn't really connected the dots

there are some very cool, slinky sort of out-grooves on this Phil Yost – I've probably played them on the show in the past – but I recently became quite captivated by this eerie abstraction that we're hearing now. one hell of a record from a primo oddball

dub set 🚨
prince far i, back weh off III?? amazingly gnarly but the whole record is a trip, looking forward to what will be the selection
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:57pm
doctorjazz:

I'm not sure if that's where she caught it, (impossible to know for sure), but it was an outdoor concert, on a roof at the South Side Seaport in Manhattan, fairly crowded, but we stood at the back where it wasn't so packed. I didn't catch it, either at the concert, or at home from her (she's been masking and isolating). She never got terribly ill, sore throat for 4 days, not severe, no fevers or other symptoms.
Avatar 8:57pm

Back Weh is a top cut off III but I played it sort of recently so I ruled it out tonight. still not the craziest cut in my opinion!
