Small Faces seemed to be living the life we all wished to have ...had no idea how effed over by Management they actually were. I say TheZombies were essentially flawless ...not sure TheSmallFaces ever put a foot wrong Creatively either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm
Mike Sin:

It's quite amazing to me just how many different mixes of Small Faces tracks exist. So many of the regional mixes have different balances and EQ. Given it was the 1960s when everything was fast as hell and on the cheap, you'd think it was one mono mix and then ship it around the world, but... it didn't work that way for the Small Faces.

Mike Sin:

I know so many folks talk about how many groups like the Small Faces were screwed by management and all that -- and this is surely a major hindrance -- but I think the biggest barrier for a lot of these bands was never getting a chance to tour like dogs around the US. I think it all would have been different for the Small Faces (and the Pretty Things, for that matter) if they could have at lest gotten on one package tour in the midst of it. The ballroom scene would have done them well if they toured the US on the back of "Itchycoo Park"

Mike, indeed, but touring like dogs might have torn some of these bands apart earlier as well. yardbirds and Kinks had tough times keeping it together in those years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Touring the USA - such a tried (not to say tired) well-oiled machine now - still being pioneered in the late 1960s. In TheKinks' case - their problems in the USA went right along with insufficient Management is my understanding ...was the era of the Michael Jeffries (Hendrix's mysterious & shady rep) & Peter Grant with his cricket bat &tc. ...

hi Bri! Joe! Yes, the Ides 50th Box set is just chock full of goodies.
As to the Who touring US, a buddy got to walk the state fair in Oklahoma with two members when they came there in mid 60's, so there was fun too for these bands.
