Merrily We Roll Along is a mish-mash of high energy lunacy, reverence, and irreverence for forgotten pop stars, love for Saturday morning cartoons, and exploration of the side of Bandcamp where I seem to be the only one purchasing. Bringing to you the odd and the upbeat from a growing collection of pre-rock novelties, classic and neo-Vaudeville, jug bands, polka, klezmer, and more at the convenient hour of 8-9 AM EST, Merrily We Roll Along starts the day off with a little light-hearted musical tomfoolery cut with an occasional comedy sketch. It's organic, free-range, cheese with the occasional onion thrown in.

Hi Jan!

Sounds like it's Curly Joe on this. They may have recorded it just for the album in the 1960s

Hello Hyperdose

Tiny Tim has a quote that goes something like "I'm the first has-been to ever play in the circus. Most artists play the circus then get famous."

Jan Turkenburg:

Besides clowns I hear some elephants passing by. At this moment I'm preparing tomorrow's playlist with Sabu the Elephant Boy a.o.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34am
MHLee:

I was thinking about how proto-Spike Jones this one is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41am
Jan Turkenburg:

Hey.... Stella Mayhew... that's somebody I ought to investigate as well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43am
MHLee:

See must have recorded a lot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am
Jan Turkenburg:

Your show brightens up this cold and grey friday afternoon here, MHLee, thanks!

Pipo de Clown!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50am
Jan Turkenburg:

I have at least one album of him and Mamaloe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am
MHLee:

I found he had a long-running tv show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, I grew up with him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am
Jan Turkenburg:

I might just digitize what I got of Pipo on vinyl today
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am
Jan Turkenburg:

There he is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am
Jan Turkenburg:

Soundtrack of my early childhood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am
MHLee:

It's not easy to find recordings of him on youtube. I'm not sure if this is the 1959 release or not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am
Jan Turkenburg:

I think this must be from later

Taking break from the clowns at work for a taste of the clown music on Sheena's,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am
Jan Turkenburg:

It's stereo and it's what I remember and we didn't get TV untill 1969
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am
MHLee:

I figured it was probably later. The\is show seems roughly equivalent in time frame to Captain Kangeroo in the US

Thanks for the hijinks, MHLee!

Circus delights!

WR:

The kids laughing on the 3 stooges selection had an unusual loop sound.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 1:21am
WR:

Minus his "Tip Toe Through The Tulips" falsetto tune, the Tiny Tim medley sounds like something I would expect to hear on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Well should sleep and listen to the rest tomorrow.
Avatar 👻 Swag For Life Member 8:36am
WR:

Listened to the rest after my rest. Thank you.

Thanks for listening and the comments WR and Jan
