...' At the signing of the contract, the name of the Klan appears instead of that of the Shadows. This unfortunate choice of name will still trigger years later a vain controversy. That said, in 1966, no one thought of establishing a connection between us and the sinister KKK. '...

I think Crimson suffers from a couple issues. First, Fripp is (or pretends to be) way too intense. As guitarists go, in my book, he isn't all that. He makes fun noises, which is great. Second, he has no sense for vocalists. Lake was awful, Wetton was awful. I so admire most of the Larks Tongue, Starless, and Red material, but I abandoned the records because I can't handle Wetton's bellowing.

Intensity is something I appreciate especially in Crimson. It's Prawg - but not just Bloodless cod Classical pretentions. Never had a problem with the Vocalists - so can't join you there either. As for Fripp as Gittarist - ask Gittarists. Or I suppose, Bowie or Eno. Fairly accomplished & distinctive & influential I reckon.

I have a 5 hour downbeat playlist that they found their way into next to Donovan and Forest and a ton of pysch folk

↳ Song: "Skyline Pigeon" by "Elton John"
This would make a perfect elegy for Clay Pigeon, if & when, GF, he should pass on.

I hear you, Rev. But to my ears he's mostly a one-trick pony. Very often, he's a lot of fun, too. I can't credit Eno at all. He is far less interesting than Fripp. Among the most overrated rock stars of our time. Good for him, but I suspect he knows he's gotten away with a lot of bullshit.

what is "downbeat?"
  11:59pm
Dean:

Downbeat is the first beat in measure, upbeat being the leading beat from the prior measure.

Right?
