I'm so glad I got to see Ryuichi Nakamoto's virtual final live performance in December. It was just him and a piano. And because of the time difference from Japan, it was the perfect Sunday winter afternoon music. If you can find it online, check it out too.

ERIK / VermonT:

Sakamoto geek-out time : that Left Handed Dream album had 2 (or more?)extremely different versions ! The USA version was a terrible butchered mix of sound & other songs swapped in. The expensive Japanese & Dutch versions were far superior - eliminating the painful Robin Scott vocals. Yes Adrian Belew rules !

The non Robin Scott version of “Left Handed Dream” 1981 album is a stellar early Sakamoto album.
Love his variety within his career !
His intense (& cruel) Mr Lawerence performance is a surprising turn for such a positive creative talent. The guy was diverse.
I have a particular adoration for the Sakamoto/Sylvian

Since we are here in this chat of such knowledgeable folks : does anybody know if the Japanese band “WHA HA HA” have CD versions available of their incredible albums ?! I’ve never understood why they don’t seem to be available !? A+ in my book. Especially hoping to score versions with extra unreleased materials. Plus their amazing Live & DUB EP !!! Anybody know ?
