You'll need about 2 hours to take it all in.
I thought it was good.
Also stuff from Transatlantic (Spock's Beard kind of spinoff)

Like so many words it's shortening became a dirty word in music
I listen to what many call power pop just as much as I listen to prog (progressive) or any other music.
I wrote a short piece called "Labels" back in 2014 while waiting for a workmate to appear on the job.
i know they are necessary, but when their connatation becomes negative..are they really helpful?
Society 's gotten really lazy with acronyms, shortened words etc. Don't get me started on emojispeak.

I will usually explain what I'm trying to get across in detail, so just for me, if the short version leaves too much open to misinterpretation I tend to not appreciate it.
Labels of course are necessary..like "poison" etc.
The emoji thing as a primary speech tool for cognitively suppressed or disabled folks, definitely very useful. The Emoji Movie on the other hand...

...i guess they'd have to to find the difference between one song and the next!
...and not hating on Swifty. i like here okay, as a person. but she's not very creative, musically or lyrically.

...Also thinking of - not just McLuhan - but Terence McKenna's Archaic Revival notions. They used to speak of such things a dew decades ago ...Post Civilization & so on. But in fact a counter medicine to treat our Civilization's Patriarchal HyperMaterialism & return us to Nature from whom we Divorced...

"SPEAK NOW (TAYLOR'S VERSION) sold 225,000 vinyl LPs, in the first four days, marking the largest consumption and sales week for an album in 2023, as well as the second-largest vinyl sales week in US history, behind her previous album, MIDNIGHTS."
She sells multiple colored variants that many of her fans collect, so that helps, but still...

Not saying that disrespectfully of her or her fans or of anyone's tastes, I just never have.
I will say, she a master social media marketer which in the world of music today is necessary.
The Swifties brought Tickemaster to Congressional hearings and caused at least some minor changes to their monopolistic greed. Gotta give them credit for that for sure.
i watched a doc about it by Vice media last month on either Tubi or freevee. It was interesting
Jackie G:
Thanks for the prog hour, Dave.
coelacanth∅:
her record sales are the result of fan obsession, or "club mentality".
just as kiss record sales back in the day (although in that case, also blatant lies about sales figures!)
i actually had high hopes for Taylor when her 8 seconds of white noise hit #1 on the charts!
but she didn't pick up the ball.
