As a drummer I have always been fascinated by how nasty the Rebirth drummers are on this. Drumset started as a way for one person to emulate the snare and bass drummers from early brass bands. On this track it goes back the other way, with Rebirth's two drummers emulating a drumset funk beat. And they flat-out kill it!

So, I got to go see Earth Wind and Fire and Lionel Richie with a friend on Tuesday night. She had an extra ticket. Well, I got there late and missed Earth Wind and Fire, who was who I really wanted to see. It was at The Moody Center and show starts right when ticket says, not doors open, we found out. But Lionel Richie was excellent! I was pleasantly surprised! He did all Commmadors stuff, too, and his sax player played keyboards and harmonica, too. Lionel talked a lot, too, and he was FUNNY! Glad I went now!

The old-school funk bands are NO JOKE. One of the best shows I have seen in recent years was Kool And The Gang with Morris Day & The Time opening. They both kicked ass. I thought Kool & The Gang might be corny, but nope, they brought it something fierce.
