* Glen Passaic Mule
2oz Glen Passaic
juice of 1 lime
ginger beer
a surly mule

In a tin cup, combine Glen Passaic and lime. Add ice, and top with ginger beer. Cajole mule into delivering a kick in the head; this softens the blow of the Glen Passaic to come. (Hint: tell the mule it's not even rented, but a previously totalled write-off mule sold at auction. This makes them extra surly.)

I routinely confuse Annette Peacock with one of the trio of vocalists who appear on Hatfield & the North et al. So implicit is the question of the relation twixt Art & Entertainment in the first place. Entertainment - & Pleasure ...& Art & being Uncomfortable to, perhaps, become better informed ?... 'Good Art doesn't always go with your sofa.' Okay. But then to fuse irritating & entertaining specifically...
If (& it is an If of whatever dimensions...) - one accepts the proposition of the book 'This Is Your Brain On Music' that a major contour of Music's appeal to us is in its balance of Familiarity ('I recognize this as Musical') & Novelty ('yet - I am not bored with it')...

I appreciate that you said that, tom tom. I think I know what you mean.

Then there are intentional irritants who excel so completely that the irritation fails maintain transcendence. My example would be The Mentors, whose "Woman from Sodom" is so heinous that I feel ashamed for laughing.

I wish I knew. Last month my S4L payment was blocked, and the same day whenever I got a call my phone would hang up immediately (I almost only get telemarketers, so I'd subscribe to that). After hours of calls and visits to my branch, I was told they knew but could not tell me why. A week later, the payment went through, and my phone worked again (the same day).
But here I go again

Fun background: I used to pay for my pledges by wire transfer. Over a decade ago, one was blocked and I was given an appointment with someone I had never seen before (or since). After boilerplate question, I was questioned about Israel (these were the Nachum days). Maybe unrelated, but maybe a flag raised then triggered a follow-up now

mine is an unpopular opinion, as is often the case; and most other fmu commenters that don't like her will rarely express against the popular opinion out loud.
but , aside from being a detestable human, i don't think she's ever done anything very innovative, and her singing is abominable.
i do like some of her early material though.
