oh yeah, also: tere was a band in our town called Strychnine Five, and the drummer bought his drum kit from the Hager Twins, which we found hilarious. The kit had no cymbals but he was trying to fix that.

Hello Michael and Fellow Listeners, I saw Yo La Tengo at the Westbeth Theater Center on Halloween night 1997, It was a Friday night, so it was especially electric. At the end of the show, Ira celebrated the fact that almost nobody was in costume. That is my signature Halloween memory. A few years back, I saw the original Halloween film in a movie theater and was reminded what a masterpiece that film truly is.

Halloween is huge in our houshold. mrs. scabin puts together paper lunch bags full of different candies, a pencil, srickers, bags of pretzels or cheetos. Hundreds of bags. The house is a Halloween wonderland: skulls, black candles etc.. We sit on the porch and send the bags down a chute that I made (a holdover from COVID that still delights the kids). mrs. scabin is a teacher in our small town, so the children demand hugs as well. My contribution: scary music. We get well over a hundred visitors.

I think the funnest Halloween show I went to was They Might Be Giants at Irving Plaza in ... 1993? First 50 people to show up with a guitar and in costume got in free and were up in the balcony. Then they joined the band to play a song that they didn't know, with roadies holding up chord cards. It was "Horse with No Name."
