this came up in the comments a few weeks ago. someone mentioned the peruvian groups being on every corner, recently...somewhere (blanking out here but i'll remember later)
- and they entertained the subway system as well a few years ago!
i personally think they should be paid for it. when i was passing through santa cruz c.1998 the street musicians got paid by the local government. as it should be.
