With billows and blasts from choirs and orchesters
Buskers and talkers
Big bands and squawkers,
the Stork Club has retained its qualities of decaying elegance and dwindling significance since the late 1950s.

April 28, 2024: Chicks and Ducks and Storks Better Scurry
Alto and tenor saxophonist (with occasional forays into bass clarinet and piano) John Tchicai - born 88 yrs ago in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and Congolese father- played with Archie Shepp, Albert Ayler, and is perhaps the only person ever to record with both John Coltrane and John Lennon.
AND.....
on her 100th, we say a scoob-i-di-boobidee-boop-boop-bee-doop and a tee-hee-hee for the gigantically delightful Margarethe Blossom Dearie - pianist and vocalist who charmed London and New York for many decades.

Les Blue Stars | En 1920 (In 1920) | Lullaby Of Birdland And Other Famous Hits | Formed by Blossom Dearie in Paris in 1952, The Blue Stars consisted of four male and four female singers who combined to create a suave, brilliantly original modern vocal sound. They enjoyed an immediate hit in France and America with Michel Legrand's arrangement of George Shearing's "Lullaby Of Birdland" and heralded a style that would continue through The Double Six Of Paris and The Swingle Singers. | ||

@fred that's just crazy, hope you keep well clear of the mess as you can.
Aren't all holidays manufactured?
Sounds like fun in the Jazz household, we missed out on sleep due to storms, and poor Erin the Kitteh hid under the bed and growled at the thunder and lightning.
