I would like to think yes, on that question. Wonder if Ives ever went to see the moving pictures at the theater?
  6:19pm
Listener Robert:

What's the musical notation for a gunhot? And what instrument do you shake to make that "oddity-oddity" sound?
Avatar 6:20pm
TDK60:

↳ WR @6:18
Howdy WR! WickedPee just told me Ives lived to 1954. Maybe.

Probably the same way Spike Jones arranged his music....with audio SFX rubber stamps on the music sheets.

......and let's not forget the voice of Mel Blanc at play on these tracks. He's the voice of god I'm telling you!!!

Don-o. If done live with the orchestra, I wonder if it was hard for musicians not to crack up. Probably too busy!

It'd be fun if gunshots were annotated by putting actual bullet holes on the staff.

  6:31pm
Listener Robert:

Anybody have an answer yet about the "oddity-oddity" instrument? If I put a clip of it into Shazam, can it tell me the instrument, or will it just spit back a list of pieces it was used in?

Listener Robert:

↳ Song: "Stupor Duck" by "Carl Stalling"
Wow, "Stupor Duck" contains a quote from "Super Wabbit"
  7:02pm
Listener Robert:

The quote is the passage meant to parody a Superman theme. whose lyrics I make, "The same theme...and a little bit more."
  7:04pm
Listener Robert:

That "same theme" is from the live action serials with Kirk Allyn, very different from the major-key ones they usually used.
  7:05pm
Listener Robert:

And THAT theme was recycled from another movie serial.

Didn’t know there were high fidelity versions of the music. I thought only the low quality audio from the films would be available. Dumb me!
Avatar 7:31pm
Buddy Runyan:

Don, did you notice your microphone is creaking?
  7:32pm
Listener Robert:

↳ Song: "Guided Muscle" by "Carl Stalling"
This isn't the Guided Muscle that character in Beany & Cecil cartoons used to call forth, is it? That one's leitmotif was the can-can song.
Avatar 7:33pm
Don-O:

We're at the halfway point of this episode!!
Avatar 7:45pm
Don-O:

↳ Buddy Runyan @7:31
Yea, there's a part of wiring leading up into the headset that makes the creaking. I just make sure I don't move the chord to the PC and my head too much. This is why I'm trying to save some money for a more profestional headphone, instead of this headset I'm using....
