Bit this ProtoDead material suggests somewhat otherwise ! & it's really interesting to me - & yerknow satisfying - & also of course evocative of the early San Francisco Psych scene - how they relate to Garage & R&B & Folk & FolkRawk. How SF was even ahead of the BYrdS probly in breaking down barriers. Which of course Psychedelics do.

	9:28pm TDK60: All interesting, RRN63. Seemed to me tho The Byrds were a bit ahead of S.F. in terms of innovations by a year or two. And some of the barrier melting happened outside SF rock before that scene. Some of those freaky folk pioneers like Sandy Bull, Richard Fariña or jazzers like Charlie Byrd. Or Butterfield's "East-West." Trane, etc.

Perhaps not quite as magnificent as Marquee Moon, but definitely 2nd place. Rougher & Tumblerer. Damn near proposed to it, at age 16. Gonna be flatly & rudely turned down anyway… Whew 😅 dodged that bullet. 👏👏👏

Although I was deep into it when a good friend of mine hooked up with a fellow who was in the early mix in Palo Alto. His dad was at the Stanford Research Center, where Bill Kruetzmann worked as the office boy. They became fast friends in 1964 when everything was going nuts. We've spent a good amount of time discussing what happened. I need to go get some milk at the 7-11, but we can talk more about it when I get back.

Or Butterfield's "East-West." Trane, etc.

Although I was deep into it when a good friend of mine hooked up with a fellow who was in the early mix in Palo Alto. His dad was at the Stanford Research Center, where Bill Kruetzmann worked as the office boy. They became fast friends in 1964 when everything was going nuts. We've spent a good amount of time discussing what happened. I need to go get some milk at the 7-11, but we can talk more about it when I get back.
