	♥ 12:48pm McGroovey: The Emancipation Proclamation ended slavery in areas that were still in insurrection at that moment (areas that hadn't yet been taken over by the Union), but it's important to remember that it didn't end slavery in the slave states that hadn't ever seceded, or in areas of the Confederacy that had already been taken over by the Union. Those areas didn't actually see legal abolition until December 6, 1865 when the 13th Amendment was ratified.
