Part 2: I recently queried abt 80s Brit band ‘The Sound’:
“Is the Brit band The Sound no longer on anybody’s radar? Never hear them. Granted, Joy Division wannabes, yet still, their 1st 2 albums (1980/1981) were very worthy. Beyond those initial 2, is the rest of their catalog worthy of pursuing. Note: I always felt ‘The Comsat Angels’ peak was their first 3 albums, yet continue to derive some surprise pleasures from the more “pop-moves” of the latter ones.

⦿Sun in ♋︎Cancer, Year of Earth 🐂Ox
' Jean Maurice Eugène Clément Cocteau (UK: /ˈkɒktoʊ/ KOK-toh, US: /kɒkˈtoʊ/ kok-TOH, French: [ʒɑ̃ mɔʁis øʒɛn klemɑ̃ kɔkto]; 5 July 1889 – 11 October 1963) was a French poet, playwright, novelist, designer, film director, visual artist and critic. He was one of the foremost artists of the surrealist, avant-garde, and Dadaist movements and an influential figure in early 20th century art. The National Observer suggested that, "of the artistic generation whose daring gave birth to Twentieth Century Art, Cocteau came closest to being a Renaissance man.". '

Musings continued:…
for those who revel in the heavy beauty tone of Joy Division’s ‘closer’ 1980 album would perhaps be partial to what I felt was an ode of sorts to its tone via The Comsat Angels heavy duty 2nd album ‘sleep no more’ (1981) - released abt a year apart from each other.
‘Sleep No More’ really provides a heavy listening vibe.

@RevRab (et al); totally symbiotic. JD & Comsats & The Sound & Teardrops & Bunnymen etc. JD still my fave of the batch. Yet I have a fondness for what New Order were able to accomplish “out of the ashes” so to say. Imnsho, The only New Order material that felt related to JD is their earlier set of songs and extras surrounding the “Movement” album. Lucky enough to have seen their peppermint lounge concert via 1st(?!) tour of that era. It was All-too-brief, but memorable! Also very fond of the 12”singles & eps that followed (yet before the Blue Monday & second album era). Don’t sleep on the original mixes of their Ceremony, Procession, everything’s gone green, & esp Temptation / Hurt 12”.

This from Wikipedia: "The dog days or dog days of summer are the hot, sultry days of summer. They were historically the period following the heliacal rising of the star system Sirius (known colloquially as the "Dog Star"), which Hellenistic astrology connected with heat, drought, sudden thunderstorms, lethargy, fever, mad dogs, and bad luck. They are now taken to be the hottest, most uncomfortable part of summer in the Northern Hemisphere."
