I had the flu, but said fuck it and went anyway. It was at Al's Bar in L.A. I swear to god when the show was over I felt great. The second time I saw The Lyres was at Maxwell's in Hoboken. I had to walk through the snow to get there - a first for me, and a last. I HATE snow! The band that opened for them was Green River, who became Pearl Jam.

Now in its fourth decade, Oneida is an underground rock institution, a working definition of true artistic independence in the face of an industry that seems to have less use for such a thing than ever before. With a shifting line-up that in recent years has firmly solidified into a quintet, the band blends psych, motorik, free improv, and old-fashioned FM jammage into an exhilarating sound completely their own. Oneida will be playing live on Burn It Down! w/ Nate K. Friday, September 13, the band's first visit to the station since 2006, and discussing its recently released LP, Expensive Air.

I had to walk through the snow to get there - a first for me, and a last. I HATE snow! The band that opened for them was Green River, who became Pearl Jam.
