we has no power for 10 days, just got my internet back (17+ days), no water, and no real idea when water will be back. lots of destruction, loss of life, it's just a big mess right now

thanks PK, the clean up and recovery is going to take a very, very long time

I made a donation via this Bandcamp benefit comp.
cardinalsatthewindow.bandcamp.com...
They wrote that 100% of proceeds are to be split evenly between Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, Rural Organizing and Resilience (ROAR), and BeLoved Asheville
I hope those organizations are effective at getting aid to those in need.
The infrastructure recovery (water systems and then roads) will be a long haul, though, hopefully not too long for the water systems.
The trauma to families and communities are not easy either. I have family and friends in New Orleans and got a taste of that from Katrina.

here are pics that i took (except for 2). they are mostly in the river arts district, and along riverside drive heading north out of town. these were taken days, and now over two weeks post storm, so a lot of clean up has already occurred. it's incredible the amount of destruction. it's also very sobering to know that there are towns not far from here that are in exponentially worse condition than this, as the river arts district was not heavily populated, mostly artist studios, tourist oriented restaurants/bars/studios, a greenway, and other businesses.
