it crossed over a little into mainstream knowledge with the oliver stone movie(bad or good movie?) i think u.s. media has been pretty quiet on the americas lately... ironically enough,( even democracy now, haven't seen much coverage,) but loud on THE BORDER... they'll never honestly cover u.s. meddling in those countries

/yeah, i've spent a lot of time of how xtianization has nearly (but not totally) exterminated non-xtian cultural traditions, from europe, the americas, africa, the ME, and even Asia. there is even a note from a 7th c pope telling bishops in north Europe to not get rid of local customs, just 'christianize them up'. the same happened in most of the world to one degree or another (I have plenty of examples of mexican culture as well)
