The return of THE METAL DISTRICT, hosted by Evan "Snake" Davies!
My hair-metal and hard-rock loving cousin returns for the third installment of THE METAL DISTRICT! These shows are inspired by:
1. Z-ROCK, the nationally syndicated hard-rock radio network based in Texas and heard on 1480 AM in NYC in the late '80s and early '90s (iirc).
2. WAPP radio's commercial-free summer in 1982.
3. The U68 Power Hour, which showed hair metal and hard rock music videos at 11m on Channel 68 in the NJ/NYC area
4. The very early days of Q104.3 in NYC, before they became a classic rock station.
Honestly I woke up this morning feeling like not doing anything at all today, especially a show like this that feels so upbeat and fun to me. But maybe that's exactly the reason to go ahead as planned. If you need a distraction for a few hours... well, here it is. And if this music isn't your thing there are alternate streams and archived shows that you can check out.

A lot of the bands you're playing today did shows at L'amour. Saw Circus Of Power there, Law & Order and a few other hardcore shows as tastes changed.

I remember subsequent openings all around with locations added (L'amour East). That whole area was old garages and warehouses that all look the same.
2001 was on 64th Street but I was too young to go there and wasn't interested.
L'amour (La Morz as the locals referred to it) opened right when I started going to shows.
Short answer? You are probably right, there wasn't much else going on up there and L'amour in fact was originally conceived as a disco it eventually changed formats.
Saw Biohazard there later in high school.
