Always think of this Richard Thompson tune

Well I can see me now,
I'm back there on the dance floor
Oh with a blonde on me arm, red-head to spare
Spit on my shoes and shine in me hair
And there's Al Bowlly, he's up on a stand

Al Bowlly's in heaven and I'm in limbo now

I think it depends on your personal engagement with the subject/writer. The UK folk rock scene has been a big part of my listening for 40+ years, so I'm thirsty for all the stories. It was also fairly brief, which was good.

WR:

I like Thompson's book too. Seemed he did well to give us some truth but was mindful of sensitivities of those involved. What I enjoyed the most was learning how even after a few albums being out that Fairport was still scuffling around, living communally, barely paying the bills. And as Larry wrote, I am thirsty for an stories about the UK folk rock scene. Which reminds me, there are a few rabbit holes the book opened for me that I haven't completed.

The Wikipedia entry for Craig Smith covers his dissolution after leaving Penny Arkade. Seems his song writing income made him give up on the band. A sad end for him. A very interesting story of the band coming out of a possible tv show to be similar to The Monkeys.
