Hey, The Oscar! We saw Nosferatu on Thursday -- and I passed along your year-end list to the Michael Shelley chatboard on Saturday.

We liked the movie a lot. I mean, it's my third-favorite movie version of the story, but those first two set the bar mighty high! A worthy update. Looked good, was very funny in parts, had some jump scares. Good acting. I'd have preferred if he'd done a little more to deconstruct and examine the parts of the vampire myth that blame female sexuality or frame it as something that creates a threat to society. I think he left some chances on the field with that. But overall, it was very good. Thanks for the rec!

The cinematography in Zabriskie Point is astounding. One scene that took my breath away the first time I saw it on the big screen, was when the anti-hero ( Mark Frechette) steals a Piper Cub, and flies over the desert. Dark Star by the Grateful Dead is used to a staggering effect here.
