I saw a Beach Boys tribute band last summer, and one of the members had been in the Explorers Club (possibly the guy who sang Run Run Run?)

They were a fantastic Beach Boys cover band.-- probably better than the current Beach Boys.

In upstate NY, we claim Wilmer and the Dukes inspired Otis Day and the Knights.

The review of movie I sent to Baby, right after seeing movie. Pure, raw, and from the heart.
Dylan. Hollywood turd stain. Got through it. Liked first 1/3. Overly long for no good reason. Dude could have cut 10 minutes off the film by just eliminating 5 of the 15 shots of peoples faces being transfixed by the music. oi vey. Norton was great. Read a review that nailed it for me. He called it a Wikipedia page, turned screenplay. The Al Cooper stuff was so poorly done, and so unnecessary. Anyway, the music speaks for itself, and my eyes are just now coming back from the back of my head. Could have been amazing with the tools they had at hand.

Michael your comments on Complete Unknown are pretty much what I thought. Really enjoyed it for same reasons you said. Music great. Gets the story right I think. Any inaccuracy regarding specific historical details no big deal. One inaccuracy that I happened to notice though was Dave Van Ronk was sort of shown but really seemed to play no role in the story they were telling. I'm biopic-phobic but in the mid-90s at the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, I watched an unrecognized Pete Seegar walk the Mall picking up any trash and shoving it into his pocket. Congestion Pricing will raise prices on everything in Manhattan, ruin downtown & midtown businesses, generate millions to be money laundered to who knows who (the MTA will NEVER be in the black, it is an enormous money laundering scheme disguised as a transit system. Shows just flooding back. Wall of Voodoo shows at Whiskey, so electrifying.

I saw a million shows at the Whisky. Fu Manchu, Shonen Knife, Sonic Youth, White Zombie, Redd Kross, Circle Jerks, Dickies, Big Drill Car, Further. Many many more. My best memory was being super high on acid (and other stuff) and having my brain completely shattered at a Monster Magnet show. Fun times.

I thought I was the only one who burns stuff onto expensive blank CDs. I use a two-well AIWA that i had to replace after about 20 years, but it's not a bad way of digitizing songs from LPs.

I know someone was pushed onto the tracks a few weeks ago. nypost reported minor injuries - he just spent 2 weeks in ICU. I dont think they are pretty safe. the nurses in icu said they typically have 7 patients who were pushed in the subway at any time

I for one enjoyed hearing the broken CD player and I consider it a minimalist masterpiece

No, it's ridiculous. Just for me to get down town I have to hope a drawbridge isn't up or a train isn't crossing the main street that goes that way. And I live like three miles from downtown. Important roads have car-swallowing potholes.

Out of literally millions. If we want anecdotal evidence, I have lived in Brooklyn for over twenty-five years and never, ever seen any violence on the subway.

I did notice the rough roads. They're terrible here, too, so I don't really think about them normally.
